Swank Event Services team from Arizona recently gathered at Southwest Key in South Phoenix to give back to a truly deserving group of children.
During the Leadership Meeting in December, the Swank team was introduced to Southwest Key. This nationally accredited nonprofit organization, funded primarily by private grants and government contracts, provides shelters for unaccompanied minors, primarily immigrant children who have come to the United States without a parent or guardian. The organization was created to reunify immigrant children with their families while providing shelter and services in a nurturing and therapeutic environment. Southwest Key is the largest provider of shelter services to unaccompanied minors in the U.S.
It was at this meeting that Swank gave the children in Southwest Key’s care a holiday party they would remember for a lifetime. The ballroom at the Arizona Biltmore was transformed into a winter wonderland, complete with areas for cookie decorating, crafts tables, games, karaoke and a photo area where pictures were taken with the Big Guy himself (Santa). The Arizona Biltmore donated food and beverage and Swank provided a personalized gift to each child.
Not wanting the giving to stop there. Swank once again approached Southwest Key to see how they could give a lasting gift. That is when Southwest Key informed them of the need for a new playground for the center’s younger children. Stepping up and delivering the spectacular, the Swank Event Services team took a day and built the much-needed play area for the children.
Swank didn’t do this project alone, they partnered with Team Worldwide, who provided the shipping of the play set complimentary all the way from Wabash, IN. Once the Team Worldwide heard about what Swank was doing, they jumped at the chance to play a part in this important philanthropic event.
A few days after the building was completed, Mr. Geraldo Rivera, Director of Southwest Key said, “The Swank Event Services team provided these children with a gift that will continue give back to the younger kids within our care. There isn’t a day that goes by that our children don’t enjoy the swings, jungle gym and slide. The Swank team continues to have love in their hearts for these wonderful children.”
